All teachers and school staff are ensured to have been vaccinated before the school starts. - Health monitoring
All parents are encouraged to conduct checks on temperature before students leave home, even if there are no symptoms. If it is above 37.3o C, your child should stay at home.
Each child must have in their possession:
-
- masks (bring some extra masks, as masks will not be available at school),
- water bottle marked with their name on, and
- tissues
THE SYMPTOMPS
COVID-19 does not have the same effects on different people. The majority of people will only experience mild or moderate symptoms. The most common symptoms are:
- fever
- a dry cough
- a loss of taste and smell
- a feeling of tiredness
- respiratory difficulties
Some people may feel:
- a sore throat
- aches and pains
- nasal congestion
- a runny nose
- diarrhea
Usually, symptoms appear 3 to 5 days after a person is infected with the virus, but it can be up to 14 days.
PROTOCOL IN CASE SYMPTOMS APPEAR AT SCHOOL
- Immediate isolation of the person by the nurse.
- Contact with the family for a return home.
- Reminder of the procedure to be followed by parents, that is: consult a doctor who will decide on the possibility and details of screening the child, if applicable.
- Thorough cleaning of the room where the person was isolated.
- Home follow-up
- Inform the nurse’s office of the student’s health evolution.
- In the event of proven COVID-19, a medical certificate will be required to return to school.
WHAT YOU
SHOULD DO
I have been tested positive with COVID
- Strict isolation of the person, their family and close friends during 14 days.
- A follow-up will be carried out by the nurse’s office.
- Returning to school may be considered after completing a fourteen day quarantine. A medical certificate of non-contagion must be sent to the nurse before coming back to school.
I have symptoms
- Home isolation
- Monitoring of the temperature every 4 hours as well as the appearance / possible evolution of symptoms. In case of aggravation, a medical consultation is strongly recommended.
- A follow-up will be carried out by the nurse’s office.
- The return to GIS can only be considered after TOTAL disappearance of symptoms.
I have been in contact with a COVID case
At home
- Strict isolation of the person at home as well as the family and close friends for 14 days.
- Monitor the onset of symptoms. If symptoms appear => you will need to perform a PCR test. If there are no symptoms, a certificate of non-contagion will be required after the 14 days of isolation.
- A follow-up will be carried out by the nurse’s office.
At school
- The leadership team and/or the nurse’s office will contact the families of the students who may have been in contact with a COVID case..
- Isolation of the whole class and the teacher(s) for 14 days.
- Total disinfection of the classroom.
